Nutrition and Exercise Task Force (NExT)

Lifestyle Psychiatry is an emergent and rapidly evolving field of research with a progressively increasing number of observational and interventional studies being published. In addition, questions about diet, nutrition, and exercise are commonly asked by patients in clinical settings. However, there is a lack of reliable and easily accessible material to clinicians and researchers, including a positional paper from the ISBD on the subject. This task force was created to address these gaps in knowledge.

The objectives of this task force are:

  1. Promote research in the assessment of diet and exercise in bipolar disorder.
  2. Support the investigation and development of lifestyle intervention in bipolar disorder.
  3. Organize and deliver educational evidence-based activities in nutrition and exercise in bipolar disorder.
  4. Strengthen collaboration and knowledge exchange between specialists in the field.
  5. Produce positional articles/guidelines/expert consensus in the topics described above.
