ISBD Membership

The ISBD is the only international bipolar focused membership Society.  By joining the ISBD, you take an active role in fostering international collaboration in education, research and clinical care to improve the lives of those with bipolar disorder.  The ISBD offers many membership levels in order to meet our diverse professional and geographical membership demographics.

Keeping in mind our growing early and mid career level membership, as well as non medical doctor health care professionals (ie psychologists, nurse practitioners, etc) that work in the field of bipolar disorders, we have revised our membership level categories and dues.  All levels are listed at the bottom of this page or you may view the changes here.

Membership Levels

The ISBD uses the World Bank list of economies to determine "High Income" and "Middle and Low Income" membership categories.  The  USA, Canada, Australia, and all European nations are considered "High Income" countries.  Please ensure you are choosing the correct membership category based on your country AND professional status.

Career Level definitions:

  • The Mid Career membership category is for ALL professions who are 5 to 8 years out of completing their training
  • The Early Career membership category is for ALL professions who are up to 4 years out of completing their training
  • Trainee level is for those who are still in school.  We reserve the right to request evidence of trainee level
  • Retiree levels are for those age 65 and older regardless of work status

If you live with bipolar disorder or are a family member or care partner, please contact Mary Miller directly to inquire about membership

Why Join ISBD? Hear directly from a member!

ISBD membership is more than a list of benefits. In a series of sit-down interviews with ISBD members at the ISBD 2023 Chicago Meeting, they discuss what draws them to the Society and the value they see in membership.  We will be updating this page (see below) with a different video from each of these members every few months over the coming year.
