ISBD’s annual meeting is the premier venue for clinicians, scientists, advocates, patients and caregivers to meet, present, and learn about new advances in the diagnosis and treatment of mood disorders. The conference offers an unparalleled platform for the top minds studying bipolar disorders to exchange ideas for the future.
The ISBD has long embraced inclusivity with respect to discipline and geography in our membership and in our meetings. However, while the speakers and programs presented at our past meetings have represented culturally diverse perspectives, we are still noticing a gender disparity. The ISBD Women's Initiative is working to improve opportunities and representation for women within the Society and within the profession.
To move towards achieving a true plurality of viewpoints, the Society will consider gender balance when assessing symposia submissions for the 21st Annual Conference in Sydney. We strongly encourage women to submit proposals, and we urge all of our colleagues to consider gender diversity when assembling submissions for ISBD 2019.
