FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIPOLAR DISORDER of the Colombian Association of Mood Disorders (ACTA)

It is a pleasure to invite you to the FIRST INTERNATIONAL CONFERENCE ON BIPOLAR DISORDER of the Colombian Association of Mood Disorders (ACTA), the official Colombian chapter of the International Society for Bipolar Disorder (ISBD), which will be held in Medellín on September 3 and 4, 2010.

Plenary speakers will include three psychiatrists of Ibero-American origin with the greatest impact worldwide on issues related to bipolar disorders. It is therefore a unique opportunity to meet Mauricio Tohen, Eduard Vieta and Boris Birmaher in Colombia at the same event.

Dr. Tohen, of Mexican origin, is the current president of the International Society for Bipolar Disorders, and a renowned researcher and author of important publications that have had a major impact on the progress in the field, mainly related to the treatment of bipolar disorders.

Dr. Vieta, a Catalan, is perhaps one of the most recognized researchers worldwide and the director of one of the most renowned bipolar programs worldwide.

And finally, Dr. Boris Birmaher, of Colombian origin, is a researcher in bipolar disorders in children and adolescents, and a professor at the University of Pittsburgh, recognized as one of the University’s worldwide pioneers in research on bipolar disorders.

Other important authors and researchers on psychopathology, epidemiology, neurocognition, etc. of bipolar disorders, such as Dr. German Berrios, Dr. Rogelio Luque, and Dr. Javier Escobar will also share their views at the conference.

At this event, limited in number of attendees, all participants will be given membership to ISBD and 1-year subscription to the electronic version of the journal Bipolar Disorders.

The scientific quality of the speakers and their international recognition guarantee that this will be a meeting of great impact for the training and clinical practice of Colombian psychiatrists. p>
